This little tweak someone told me about keeps firefox running a little smoother if you are using a thousand tabs like I usually do.
1. First thing to do is open a new tab. Type “about:config” without quotes into the address bar and hit enter/click Go.
2. Right-click anywhere, select New, then Boolean. In the dialog prompt that appears, type: config.trim_on_minimize
3. Click OK. Another dialog prompt will appear and select True. Click OK and restart Firefox.
If you bring up your Task Manager and monitor the memory usage of firefox you will notice a huge drop in memory when firefox is minimized.
